ENABLING ETHICAL AND QUALITY RESEARCH IN HONDURAS AND CENTRAL AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN
2019 - 2020
This project will be carried out during a 12-month period. The participating institutions are key institutions from the Honduras health sector, including Colegio Medico de Honduras (Honduran Medical College), Escuela de Enfermería de la Facultad de Ciencias Médics (FCM) UNAH (Nursing School, Faculty of Medical Sciences), Hospital San Felipe, Comité de Etica en Investigación Biomédica (IRB) (CEIB) and Unidad de Investigación Científica FCM UNAH, Instituto de Enfermedades Infecciosas y Parasitología Antonio Vidal and The Global Health Network (TGHN, www.tghn.org). In addition, other institutions from El Salvador and Dominican Republic, members of the Central America and Caribbean IRB Network, will participate.
A number of activities will be carried out with the objective of integrating, training and developing four research groups in order to contribute to enable ethical and quality research in Honduras and the Central American and Caribbean sub-region. All these institutions know and use TGHN platform to take online courses and to share their experience at the discussion forum. However, it is necessary to promote that the trained personnel use the knowledge, skills and tools to develop ethical and quality research on prioritized topics.
The four integrated groups (two from Medical College, Nursing School, and San Felipe Hospital), will develop a training program on research methodology and ethics and will present a research project, starting with the proposal, ethical approval and performing. The results will be disseminated in scientific events and will be published in scientific journals.
