About: Graduated in Biology. Specialization in General and Molecular Microbiology at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. Internship at the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at St Josephe Hospital and at the Microbial Taxonomy Laboratory at the Pasteur Institute. I completed my Master's degree in Microbiology at the State University of São Paulo (USP). In 1998, I was invited by Prof. Dr. Luiz Hildebrando Pereira da Silva implementing the Molecular Microbiology laboratory at the Tropical Medicine Research Center. In 2001 I went to the CNRS (Centre National de Recherche Scientifique), where I developed a Sandwich Doctorate in the Macromolecular Systems Engineering Laboratory. Back in Brazil, in 2003, after my internship, I defended my thesis at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo to obtain my PhD. In the same year, I resumed my role as head of research at the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory where I completed my post-doctorate. In 2006 I joined FIOCRUZ in Amazonas as a microbiology researcher. In 2020 I joined Fiocruz de Pernambuco where I carry out research in microbial taxonomy with an emphasis on childhood diarrhea and waterborne diseases, bacterial resistance, with the development of a surveillance network on systemic resistance of bacteria of clinical, environmental and food interest in the regions North and Northeast, hospital infection and microbiology of viruses and bacteria of clinical interest. The objective of the research I develop are studies that investigate the pathogen-host relationship and that have application in disease diagnosis, identification of virulence factors, multidrug resistance, targeted immunity research into vaccine candidates and bioprospecting for active ingredients with antimicrobial potential.
